Hollywood power couple Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have officially finalized their divorce, bringing an end to their nearly two-decade-long marriage while outlining a detailed and amicable plan for coparenting their two teenage daughters.
According to court records filed in Tennessee’s Davidson County Circuit Court, the divorce was finalized on Tuesday, Jan. 6, following a finding of irreconcilable differences that made continuation of the marriage “impractical and impossible.”
The ruling, signed by Circuit Court Judge Stephanie J. Williams, approved both the permanent parenting plan and the couple’s financial arrangements, determining that all provisions were in the best interests of their minor children.
Under the court-approved agreement, daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15, will primarily reside with Kidman.
The parenting schedule grants Kidman custody for 306 days each year, while Urban will have parenting time on alternating weekends and designated holidays.
The agreement also outlines a structured holiday rotation, ensuring both parents remain actively involved in significant occasions such as Easter, Thanksgiving, winter break, and spring vacation.
While both parents will jointly make major decisions regarding their daughters’ upbringing, Kidman retains final decision-making authority should disputes arise. This provision applies only while the children remain minors, with Sunday Rose set to turn 18 later this year.
Financially, both parties waived spousal support and confirmed that their personal property and professional assets have been divided to their mutual satisfaction.
Each will retain full rights and responsibilities related to their individual creative works, debts, trusts, and financial accounts.
The agreement further emphasizes confidentiality, reflecting a shared intent to keep financial and business matters private.
Urban has also prepaid all child support obligations, including contributions toward childcare, private schooling, and extracurricular expenses through the children’s high school graduation.
Legal fees will be paid individually, and any jointly owned real estate will be divided according to existing operating and property agreements.
The divorce filing follows months of separation. Kidman formally filed for divorce on Sept. 30, confirming that the couple had been living separately in Nashville.
The pair first met in 2005 and married in 2006 near Sydney, Australia, celebrating their 19th wedding anniversary in June 2025.
Kidman was previously married to Tom Cruise, a relationship that ended in 2001. Reflecting on her past, Kidman has previously acknowledged that maturity differences played a role in that divorce.
Her relationship with Urban, however, was long regarded as one of Hollywood’s most stable unions.
While the end of their marriage marks a significant personal transition, Kidman and Urban’s divorce proceedings reflect a deliberate focus on cooperation, privacy, and the well-being of their children as they move forward separately.
