North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein (D), who won the Democratic gubernatorial nomination, wants President Biden to campaign for him in the swing state.
Stein thinks former President Trump can help Democrats win North Carolina in 2024 despite Biden's large election deficit.
Stein, Attorney General since 2017, emphasized his accomplishments, including reducing the nation's greatest backlog of untested rape kits, safeguarding children from sexual assault, and preserving voting and reproductive rights.
The Attorney General said he will bring his "fighting spirit" to the governor's office to improve schools and community safety.
Stein has also secured the endorsement of outgoing Governor Roy Cooper (D) in his bid for the state's highest office.
Stein's desire to have Biden campaign for him implies he thinks the President's presence could help Democrats win the closely watched gubernatorial election in North Carolina, a swing state.
