President Donald Trump and White House aide Natalie Harp are facing a federal lawsuit over Truth Socialβs Truth API, a paid service that provides subscribers with real-time access to posts from prominent accounts, including government officials.
American Oversight and Campaign for Accountability filed the lawsuit on September 17, 2026, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

What Is Truth API?
Trump Media & Technology Group launched Truth API on August 1 as a business-to-business data service providing licensed, real-time access to posts from high-profile Truth Social accounts.
The company announced the service in July, describing it as a data feed for institutional customers.
According to the lawsuit, subscriptions cost up to $100,000 per month, or $60,000 per month for customers signing three-year agreements.
Accounts covered by the service include those belonging to Trump, the White House, Scavino, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and FBI Director Kash Patel.

Why Are Trump and Natalie Harp Being Sued?
The plaintiffs allege that administration officials use Truth Social to announce government policies, personnel decisions and other significant actions.
They argue that allowing paying customers to receive those posts before the broader public creates unequal access to official government information.
The complaint alleges violations of the First and Fifth Amendments and the Paperwork Reduction Act.
It seeks a court declaration that the arrangement is unlawful and an order preventing defendants from releasing official government information first or exclusively through Truth Social accounts covered by Truth API.
Trumpβs Financial Interest in Truth Social
The lawsuit also focuses on Trumpβs financial connection to Trump Media. According to the plaintiffs, his revocable trust owns roughly 41% of the company, with the stake valued at more than $1 billion.
The plaintiffs argue that this financial relationship is relevant because Truth API generates revenue for Trump Media.
Trump Media has defended Truth API as a commercial data product, while company executives have emphasized the value of faster access to Truth Social posts for financial-market users.
