A man from Virginia led a lavish life by avoiding paying taxes, and he recently admitted that he did not pay enough employment taxes to the IRS. Rick Tariq Rahim ran a number of businesses, such as a laser tag business and an Amazon selling business.
From 2015 to 2021, he purposely took out more than $1.8 million in taxes from his workers’ paychecks, but he didn’t give the money to the government or file the quarterly tax returns that were due.
But Rahim’s tax theft went back even further. From 2010 to 2012, he made personal tax returns saying he owed a lot of money in taxes, but he never paid the amounts he said he owed.
When the IRS tried to collect, Rahim gave them fake financial documents that left out valuable assets like a plane, Bentley, Lamborghini, and a house in Great Falls that he quickly changed the title of to his wife’s name.

Rahim seems to have lived a lavish life with the money he stole from the government and his workers’ paychecks. He used his business accounts to pay off over $889k in debts and $669k to buy or lease several Lamborghinis and other luxury cars.
He also took out more than $1.1 million in cash in inefficiently small amounts to escape having to report it to the bank.
Rahim hasn’t paid his own taxes in ten years, even though he has made over $34 million since 2012. The judge will decide his sentence on June 25th.
The IRS Criminal Investigation looked into the case, and the Tax Division of the Justice Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia brought charges.
